Help your learners get excited about their learning adventure by using the Psychology of Persuasion – don’t just explain what they’ll learn with your course, explain how their life will be infinitely better by expressing learning objectives as benefits to be gained, not just skills to be learned.
If a learner has two courses in front of them that both claim to teach how to build a WordPress site, which one sounds more appealing?
a) Learn how to put together your own WordPress website.
b) Fool your friends, confound your competitors and show off some serious skills by building your very own whizzy WordPress website.
Both promise to teach the learner to build a WordPress website, but the second sells the added benefits of ‘fool your friends, confound your competitors and show off some serious skills’ – in addition to the website being ‘whizzy’. Everything else being equal, I’d buy the second one – wouldn’t you?!
