Course Creation Best Practice 4: Specify the Skills Needed
If you specify the skill level potential students need for your course, it helps them ‘pre-select’ themselves. This means you shouldn’t have to spend time answering questions that are either too basic or too advanced for the majority of your learners.
The more specific you can be about prior knowledge required (or not), the more your potential students will trust that you can help solve their particular need.
Simply saying ‘Beginner’, ‘Intermediate’ or ‘Advanced’ is not enough – give examples of what you do and don’t expect your ideal students to know.
