Course Creation Best Practice 7: Time Commitment

Be sure to give a rough estimate of the time commitment you would expect a successful student to put into consuming your course and any assignments / extra work.

This way you can start to set expectations and it also gives you a good idea of whether you actually have more than one course on your hands (bite-sized chunks are better for learning and for your wallet!).

You shouldn’t shy away from being honest about the time commitment it will take. If it’s quite a lengthy commitment, then you know the students that sign up are dedicated to learning. Also think about whether you need some additional motivational tools to keep them focused and on track.
